Κοινωνιολογική και συγκριτική ανάλυση sci-fi ταινιών: H περίπτωση των Star Trek και Star Wars.

Κάποτε κάποιος με παρότρυνε: είναι ώρα να διαλέξεις. Ποιος υποτίθεται ότι είσαι πια, ένας Jedi Master ή ο Mr. Spock;

Εξηγώντας αργότερα...

«Βέβαια για να μην παίρνεις τόσο σημαντικές αποφάσεις που θα σε κυνηγάνε μια ζωή μπορούμε να το φανταστούμε σαν ένα spin-off... Δηλαδή ο Mr. Spock «πηδάει» στο σύμπαν του Star Wars, χρίζεται Jedi Master με την μία γιατί «το 'χει» και ξαναγυρνάει πίσω σαν Jedi Master Spock. Δεν μιλάω εγώ, αλλά η μαργαρίτα που έπινα.»

Απαντώ...

«Όσο και αν με ταξιδεύει η μεθυσμένη φαντασία σου, αυτά είναι δυο σύμπαντα τα οποία δεν θες να τα μπλέξεις. Είναι κάτι σαν την ύλη και την αντί-ύλη. Αν έρθουν σε επαφή θα επέλθει η ανυπαρξία με το μεγαλύτερο μπουμ στην ιστορία του sci-fi. Το Star Trek είναι ο λόγος που υπάρχει το Star Wars. Το Star Trek είναι θρησκεία, ενώ το Star Wars είναι ένα ανεπανάληπτο Saga. Οι ήρωες στο ένα πολεμάνε πάντα τον αιώνιο εχθρό: the Sith Lord. Η όλη φιλοσοφία του είναι βασισμένη στην σύγκρουση καλού και κακού. "The Dark side of the Force, VS the Light side of the Force." Στο άλλο οι ήρωες είναι συνεχώς στην αναζήτηση για την διεύρυνση του ανθρώπινου νου και του είναι. Μέσα από απίστευτες περιπέτειες, ο σκοπός είναι πάντοτε να ανακαλύψουν κάτι καινούριο. Να μάθουν κάτι, να γίνονται κάθε φορά και λίγο πιο σοφοί. Να χαρτογραφήσουν το κόσμο γύρο τους όπως έκαναν οι πρώτοι εξερευνητές στην Ισπανία της Γης. Είναι ο παραλληλισμός της εσωστρέφειας και της εξωστρέφειας στο μεγαλείο του. Όσο πιο μακριά ταξιδεύουν τόσο πιο πολύ αναζητούν τον εαυτό τους. Και το καταφέρνουν οι πούστηδες. Κάθε εξερεύνηση ενός νέου πλανήτη στα πέρατα του διαγαλαξιακού διαστήματος είναι ζήτημα ζωής και θανάτου. Και το τι πολιτισμούς συναντάνε κάθε φορά και πώς πάντα καταφέρνουν να εμπλακούν είναι κάτι το κοινωνιολογικά απίστευτο!

Από τη μια λοιπόν έχουμε ήρωες που θέλουν να «φτάσουν εκεί που δεν έχει φτάσει ποτέ κανείς», και από την άλλη έχουμε ήρωες που πολεμάνε επί δεκαετίες ολόκληρες την «κακή» βερσιόν του εαυτού τους μόνο και μόνο για να επέλθει η ισορροπία στο σύμπαν τους. Ως εκ τούτου η σύγκρουση αυτών των διαφορετικών φιλοσοφιών θα ήταν μοιραία. Όπως καταλαβαίνεις, ο Mr. Spock που είναι ον της λογικής, της ευφυΐας και του λογισμού, δεν θα μπορούσε να είναι “Jedi” του οποίου ολόκληρη η δύναμη πηγάζει από αισθήματα και συναισθήματα. Θα ήταν ένα καταστροφικό παράδοξο.
Να μου πεις, αυτά τα καταστροφικά παράδοξα είναι και τα πιο ενδιαφέροντα... Αλλά στην συγκεκριμένη περίπτωση επιμένω.
Υποθέτω όμως... δε θα τον χάλαγε τον Σποκ ένα φωτόσπαθο.»
